40 ways to relax in 5 minutes or less

Through many years of delivering workshops on managing stress as well as working with individuals struggling with stress, we have heard two recurring comments. "That surely won't work, it's too simple" and "I don't have time".

We usually want new and interesting ways of calming ourselves and we think they will take a lot of time. The truth is that using a range of small, simple tools and techniques can make a difference.

Have a look at this weblink and before you dismiss them, why not give some of these ideas a go and see what happens. greatest.com/happiness/40-ways-relax-5-minutes-or-less

You might also consider the ideas in Rick Hanson's book, Just One Thing. Published 2011.

It is worth trying a number of ideas then focus down on the ones which work best for you

A little thought at the start of the year.

New Year's resolutions have never been my thing, but I do like to take some time at the end of one year and the start of another to reflect on life, both my own and the life of the society around me. So, as a little food for thought I recommend an article on the pursuit of happiness published online by the BBC magazine. You can find it here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-30655616
Happy thinking!
